About Cal Vornberger

Cal Vornberger is a professional photographer whose work has been published in numerous books, magazines, newspapers, and calendars around the world. He is a contributor to Outdoor Photographer magazine and most recently his work appeared in Nicolas Hulot's book, "La Terre en Partage".

He most recent interest is in HDR or High Dynamic Range Imaging and is currently writing a book on the subject. Many of his HDR images can be found here on this site and at http://www.hdrimania.com

Cal is also a photojournalist and owns and operates a stock photo news agency NYC Photo News. Cal's personal work can be seen at http://www.calvorn.com and you can order prints of his work at http://calvorn.smugmug.com

From 1988 to 2000 he was the President of Tumble Interactive Media, Inc., an interactive agency he founded. In 2000 Cal sold Tumble to a public company and became Chief Creative Officer of the firm. In 2001 He left the company to pursue his passion for photography.

Before founding Tumble Cal was an award-winning art director for television, stage, and film. He worked on numerous Public Television programs including the Emmy award-winning series "Joseph Campbell: The Power of Myth." He has designed scenery for all types of television and film productions including commercials, cable programming, corporate videos, music videos, political campaigns, live events and documentaries.

Cal is a graduate of the University of Michigan where he attended the Residential College. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Wayne State University and has been a member of the faculties of the University of Texas, New York University, Hunter College, Pratt, The Katharine Gibbs School, and The City University of New York College of Techology where he is currently an Adjunct Professor.

Cal continues to consult on Web and digital media-based projects and is currently working with Dick Cavett on his digital media archive. He wrote a database to track Mr. Cavett's more than 35 years worth of televison shows as they are transferred to digital media and he created a Web site for the Dick Cavett Show where users can browse the collection.
